Gunsmoke on the Brazos, a Reenactment Guild of America (RGA) sanctioned competition, will take place in Historic Granbury, Texas, October 1-2, 2011. A small town nestled approximately 35 miles west of Fort Worth, Granbury is touted as being "Where Texas History Lives" and history will definitely come alive that weekend as reenactors from across the United States appear on the horizon in their 1800's wardrobe toting period correct firearms, cooking utensils and even a covered wagon or two.

Gunsmoke on the Brazos was founded by David "Doc" Moore's desire to bring the years following the Civil War to life when the cowboy rode into American History and gave birth to the often romanticized Wild West. In keeping with his passion for history, Moore and a group of friends that he refers to as the H.O.T. team have chosen to donate proceeds from Gunsmoke on the Brazos to Preserve Granbury, a non-profit group who has partnered with the City of Granbury to restore three historical buildings that have been relocated to Lambert Branch Park, which is located two blocks northeast of the town square.

"Our Gunsmoke weekend will offer something for all ages... western reenactments, live entertainment, living history presentations, vendors and lots of family fun and games all in Granbury's Hewlett Park," stated Moore. "We are also offering free vendor space to non-profit groups in our community and the surrounding area in an effort to promote our community as well."
