Event Details

The St. Hugh Steinway Concert Series will present three members of FGO’s Young Artist Studio in the last concert of this season on Friday, April 19, at St. Hugh Catholic Church in Coconut Grove. Soprano Hye Jung Lee, mezzo-soprano Cynthia Cook and tenor Matthew Newlin will be acompanied at the piano by series artistic director Roberto Berrocal, who is also the principal vocal coach of the Young Artist Studio. The program will include arias from La Cenerentola, La Sonnambula and Nixon in China, as well as Korean songs, French cabaret songs and Broadway selections.

Ms. Lee is a winner of various international competitions, a regional finalist of The Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and the Maria Callas International Music Competition. Ms. Cook, a recent graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, was a semi-finalist for the Belvedere Competition in Vienna, Austria, in 2011. Mr. Newlin, who holds a Professional Diploma in Opera from the Chicago College of Performing Arts, is a 3rd place winner of The Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Regional Finals.
