ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Brett Deubner, one of the finest violists of this generation, and Caroline Fauchet, prizewinner of the Albert Roussel and Sofia International Competitions, is a collaboration that’s musical prowess has excited audiences around the world.  Their individual styles as soloists and innate sensitivity and flexibility has created a unique ensemble with a rare touch of finesse with contrasting power that always serves the music. The colors they use are complementary, creating a richer, interaction with each other to the point of "seeing" music, creating a soundscape that one travels with happiness and curiosity.  Their interpretation of the New York-based composer Patrick Zimmerli, "The Call" seemed to permanently seal the formation of this new and exciting duo, born of a complementary radiant energy of light and rare insight.

Brett Deubner, one of this generation’s most accomplished violists, has inspired worldwide critical acclaim for his powerful intensity and sumptuous tone. The Strad noted Brett Deubner’s playing for it’s “infectious capriciousness” while the Fanfare Magazine reviewed his most recent recording of Andrew Rudin’s concerto on the Centaur label with equal praise, ““Deubner meets every musical and technical challenge most admirably”.”The 2012-13 season marked Deubner’s concert debuts with the Grand Rapids Symphony, the Thuringer Symphoniker in Saalfed, Germany, and the Omaha Symphonic Winds. Recent concerto appearances have included New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the Knoxville Symphony, the Grainger Wind Symphony in Melbourne, the Filharmonic del Quito, String Orchestra of the Rockies, the National Symphony of Ecuador, the State Orchestra of Merida, Venezuela, the New Symphony of Sofia, Bulgaria, the Peninsula Symphony of California and the Kiev Camerata in Ukraine.  The 2013-14 season highlights include debuts with the Missoula Symphony, the Orquestra Filarmonica do Espirito Santo, Brazil, Orchestre bel’Arte in Paris, concerto appearances in New Jerset, Oregon as well as return engagements with the Peninsula Symphony and the National Symphony of Ecuador. With his duo partner, pianist Caroline Fauchet, Brett will give recitals in Los Angeles and Paris as well as release their first disc for Centaur.   Brett Deubner’s commitment to extending the repertoire for the viola is made evident by collaborations with some of today’s greatest composers such as Samuel Adler, Lalo Schifrin, Andrew Rudin, David Del Tredici and several of this generation’s leading young composers. To date, over 80 works for viola including over 30 viola concerti and numerous solo and chamber works for viola have been dedicated to and premiered by Brett Deubner.  Brett Deubner has served on the faculty of Temple University's Boyer School of Music and Dance in Philadelphia and Kean University’s Conservatory of Music.  Constantly in demand as a master class visiting guest and chamber music collaborator, Brett Deubner is on the faculty of the International Festival at Round Top, and the Musica Negli Horti festival in Tuscany, Italy.
