Stop the Violence Before it Starts/Labor Day Fest is an outdoor educational and support outreach ministry of Boone Tabernacle Church of God in Christ promoting a violent free community. Boone Tabernacle COGIC is located in the heart of city where the average household income is approximately $20,000.00- $25,000.00 per year and where the local school district has lost accreditation.  Our Pastor, Bishop LF Thuston and First Lady Thuston have found it extremely important to find ways to strengthen our community.  We have offered this event for the last 7 years, and we have seen growth each year from local businesses, organizations and residences of Kansas City, Mo.  Our church has built several partnerships with surrounding organizations last year including the Kansas City Police Department, the City of Kansas City, Missouri, our local Home Depot, and most recently Panera Bread.

This event provides free haircuts, free meals, school supplies, health and human services, clothing, and resources to put the family home together piece by piece. This event will also provide an outdoor musical with featured national recording artists The Gordons, Sunday Best Alumni Latice Crawford and Tyler Little.   Ecclesiastes 4:9-10a (MSG) tells us, “It’s better to have a partner than go it alone.  Share the work, share the wealth.  AND IF ONE FALLS DOWN THE OTHERS HELPS.” Therefore, it is our endeavor to meet the community’s spiritual and natural needs right where it is convenient for them.
